The Conference of Mr. MANUCEAU
It is in front of a large public, in the front line of which General Lavergne was recognized, that Mr. Jérôme MANUCEAU gave Tuesday evening, in the Officers' Circle-Mess, a conference on "The use of artificial satellites in the knowledge of the Universe ».
This is a subject, you might think, which can only be dealt with by an old gentleman with glasses and at least a holder of the Academic Palms. Eh! well, not at all! Mr. Jérôme MANUCEAU has only 24 years old... and the apperance of a young movie star. He is a native from Diré-Daoua, he spent all his youth in Djibouti, where his parents, well known to our fellow citizens, still live. Student in Theoretical Physics at the Faculty of Sciences of Marseille, Mr. Jerome MANUCEAU is currently preparing a PhD thesis on "Quantum Field Theory". His conference on satellites was simply a holiday duty. Decidedly young people will always surprise us! ...
Classical decor : a blackboard, two microphones, a table and the inevitable water carafe. And we immediately get to the heart of the matter, with a brief summary of the famous Einstein theory that for two mobile observers, The flow of time is not the same. A further verification of this theory is under study, M. MANUCEAU tells us. It would consist in placing in orbit an atomic clock of extreme precision (3 seconds difference in 10 centuries) and compare its records with those of an identical clock, but terrestrial.
It would remain to be fixed, it seems, only the problem of the weight posed by the clock in question. What can satellites still serve? To teach us that the Earth is not spherical, but rather resembles the famous apple of Sin (no pun intended), to detect the march of cyclones and cloud formations at high altitude, to study finally, in optimum conditions of observation, the exact contexture of the Sun and its influence on terrestrial life.
And Mr. MANUCEAU finishes his lecture by taking us, hanging on his lips, in a vertiginous journey through a few galaxies, the least of which (ours) spread only on 5 billion light years.
All our compliments for this masterful presentation, which everyone could easily follow, thanks to the simplicity of the terms used, the clarity of the explanatory diagrams and the methodical gradation of the demonstrations.
Remember this name: Jérôme MANUCEAU . He is of the race of these musicians of the Numbers who will give us one day the key of the Creation.
